Winmax MFD Fiber Arrays are designed to interface optical fibers with waveguides that have relatively small optical mode fields. The source design uses a short ultra-high numerical aperture (UHNA) fiber section fusion-spliced to a standard single-mode (SM) or polarization-maintaining (PM) fiber. MFD and endface configurations are selected according to the target wavelength and photonic-chip interface. Actual coupling loss and working distance depend on the complete optical design and alignment conditions.
